Part 1, 3 & 4

These movement allows Qi to move upwards towards the neck and head, clearing any blockages in the meridians and balancing the Qi in the head and neck. The movement depicts the movement of a crane taking off for flight and drinking and that of a dragon swaying its head.

Part 7

This movement focuses on relaxing and strengthening the waist, pelvis and coccyx. The rotation of the pelvis cures ailments of the lower half of the body and increases the capacity of the DanTian to accumulate more Qi. The energetic system of the kidneys are stimulated and enhanced. Tightening of the perineum helps to retain and maintain Qi in the body.

Part 8

The movement of the leg and ankles focuses on the foot meridians. This exercise stimulates the foot meridians that run along the legs, ankles and feet. It improves the flow of Qi in the lower limbs to the toes strengthening the joints of the ankles and feet and muscles of the lower limbs. This heals ailments of the lower limbs, bladder, pancreas, stomach, liver and kidneys.

Part 9

This movement is excellent for relaxing the spine, lumbar region and coccyx, and strengthens your knees and legs. In Qigong, this movement is done according to your capability. If you cannot squat down all the way, go only as far as you comfortably can. Start off slowly and gradually build your strength to practice for longer periods.

This movement exercises the spine and vertebrae and strengthens the urinary bladder meridian. The spine is strengthened as well as the ligaments and muscles of the back. This heals illnesses of the spinal chord, kidneys, adrenal glands, bladder, entire reproductive system, and bone marrow, relieves backache and back related problems. This is especially good for those suffering from high blood pressure. Does it mean that if you have low blood pressure, you cannot do this movement? Absolutely not. Flow of Qi seeks to regulate your body systems. If you have low blood pressure, your pressure will normalise.
